FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re new to kinesiology or have experienced sessions before, you might have a few questions about how everything works.

Here are some of the questions I get asked most often. If there’s something else you’d like to know, you’re always welcome to reach out.

1. How do I book a session?

Simply visit the Contact & Book page, choose the session that feels most appropriate and select an available appointment time.

You’ll receive a confirmation email with the details you need for your session.

If you’re unsure where to start, you’re welcome to book a free 15-minute chat. If a time isn’t available, you can call or text Jennifer on 0448 881 535.

2. What happens in a session?

We’ll start with a conversation about what’s been happening for you, how you’re feeling and what you’d like to change.

From there, I combine kinesiology, Mind Body Medicine, muscle monitoring and other complementary techniques to explore patterns, emotional responses, beliefs and areas of stress that may be influencing your experience.

Depending on what comes up, we may work with body-based techniques, emotional awareness, energy balancing or practical coaching.

Every session is different and tailored to you.

3. Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?

Not at all!

You might know exactly what’s bothering you, or you might simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, emotional, disconnected or like something isn’t quite right.

Sometimes people come in because they’re experiencing the same patterns or reactions over and over, even though they understand what’s happening logically.

We can work together to gain greater clarity about what’s happening and where to begin.

You can simply come as you are.

4. What can kinesiology help with?

People come to me for all sorts of reasons, including:

  • Stress and emotional overwhelm
  • Relationship challenges and recurring patterns
  • Confidence and self-worth
  • Feeling stuck or disconnected
  • Sleep and relaxation difficulties
  • Physical tension and general wellbeing
  • Life transitions and significant changes
  • Exploring emotional responses, behaviours and beliefs

Kinesiology is a complementary wellbeing approach that can support self-awareness, relaxation and personal development. It isn’t a medical treatment or a guaranteed solution to any particular condition.

You are welcome to explore what’s happening for you, even if you haven’t quite found the words to describe it.

5. How long is a session?

Your initial session may take up to approximately 2½ hours, allowing time for pre-session work, a detailed conversation and your individual balance.

Follow-up sessions are generally around 60–90 minutes.

Session lengths may vary depending on the service booked and your individual needs.

I allow time for us to explore what’s happening and work through the session at a comfortable pace.

6. Can I have a session online?

Yes! Online sessions are available.

We begin by talking through what’s happening for you, much like an in-person session.

For online work, I may use surrogate muscle monitoring on my own body as part of my kinesiology approach, alongside conversation, emotional awareness and other complementary techniques.

You can join from anywhere, provided you have a private, comfortable space and a reliable internet connection.

Online sessions offer flexibility for people outside Brisbane or those who prefer working from home.

7. What is muscle monitoring?

Muscle monitoring is a technique commonly used in kinesiology.

It involves applying gentle pressure to a muscle and observing how it responds. Within kinesiology, practitioners use these responses as part of their approach to exploring potential areas of stress and selecting balancing techniques.

I combine muscle monitoring with conversation and other approaches to guide the direction of a session.

Muscle monitoring is not a medically validated diagnostic test and cannot reliably identify diseases, nutritional deficiencies, trauma or specific emotional causes.

It is one part of my complementary wellbeing approach.

8. What should I wear?

Just wear something comfortable that you can move easily in.

You remain fully clothed throughout the session.

Comfortable, relaxed clothing is ideal, particularly if we’re incorporating gentle movement or body-based techniques.

9. How many sessions will I need?

There isn’t a set number because everyone comes with different experiences, goals and circumstances.

Some people choose to attend a single session to explore a particular concern, while others prefer ongoing sessions to support their personal development or work through several patterns over time.

Regular weekly or fortnightly appointments may suit people who prefer consistent support, but we’ll discuss what feels appropriate for you.

My approach is to review your experience together rather than commit you to sessions you may not need.

10. Is kinesiology counselling or medical treatment?

No. Kinesiology and the other complementary approaches I offer are intended to support wellbeing, self-awareness and personal development.

While our sessions involve conversation and emotional exploration, they are different from psychological counselling, psychotherapy and medical treatment.

I make no claims to diagnose, treat, fix or cure medical or psychological conditions.

My services can complement the care you receive from appropriately qualified healthcare professionals, but they aren’t a replacement for that care.

11. What if I get emotional during the session?

That’s completely okay.

Sometimes talking about what’s happening in our lives can bring up emotions, particularly when we’re exploring experiences, relationships or patterns that have affected us.

My clinic is a private, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can express yourself at a pace that feels comfortable.

You’re always welcome to ask questions, take a break or let me know if something feels uncomfortable.

We’ll work together to create an experience where you feel heard, respected and supported.

12. What’s your cancellation policy?

I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

I understand that illness, emergencies and unexpected circumstances can arise, so please contact me as soon as possible if something changes.

Late cancellations are considered individually, with compassion and fairness. A reasonable cancellation fee may apply where the applicable fee has been communicated before booking.

You can find further information in the Terms & Conditions page.

13. How is your approach to trauma different from seeing a psychologist?

My approach combines kinesiology, Mind Body Medicine, coaching and complementary body-based techniques to explore how stress, emotional experiences and learned responses may influence your wellbeing.

Sessions may involve conversation, muscle monitoring, body awareness and gentle balancing techniques, with a focus on self-awareness, emotional support and personal development.

We work at your pace, and you’re always encouraged to communicate what feels comfortable for you.

A psychologist is qualified to assess and provide evidence-based psychological treatment for mental health conditions, including trauma-related disorders such as PTSD.

My sessions are not psychological therapy, and I do not diagnose or treat PTSD or other mental health conditions.

If you’re working through trauma, professional psychological support can be an important part of your care. My complementary services may be used alongside that support where appropriate.

Still Have Questions?

Every person and their circumstances are different, and it’s completely understandable to have questions before booking your first session.

If you’d like to know more about how I work, or you’re wondering whether my approach is right for you, I’d love to hear from you.
